Job Description
As the Director of Event Sales, you will lead and expand revenue generation through meetings, offsites, and full buyouts across our portfolio. This leadership role is integral to the growth of a key product offering, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive event sales strategy, optimizing event operations, and positioning The Malin as a premier destination for corporate and private events.
As Director of Event Sales you will take ownership of revenue performance, market positioning, and department leadership, ensuring our event services align with client expectations, industry trends, and operational efficiencies. This role requires a proactive sales approach, a deep understanding of hospitality and corporate event sales, and the ability to cultivate high-value client relationships while scaling a best-in-class event sales function. The ideal candidate will bring a robust network of industry contacts and an active book of business to support immediate client engagement and accelerate revenue growth.
In its initial period this role will support the continued development of this new product offering within upcoming projects, influencing layout, infrastructure, services, and the overall guest experience. This leader will help shape The Malin’s competitive advantage across all markets by informing how our spaces support event use cases and ensuring our offerings meet and exceed the expectations of the market.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Infrastructure Strategy
● Play a critical role in building and shaping The Malin’s event offering as a new product line, contributing to space planning, layout design, infrastructure needs, and service enhancements.
● Partner with operations, design, and community teams to ensure event spaces are optimized for performance, flow, and premium client experiences.
● Influence development decisions by identifying and recommending physical upgrades, AV solutions, and service models that create competitive advantages across markets.
● Develop structured pricing models, contract terms, and package options to enhance revenue potential and customer satisfaction.
● Gather client and market insights to drive continuous enhancements in The Malin’s event offerings, including emerging trends like hybrid meeting solutions and bespoke amenities.
● Work closely with leadership to innovate and develop new event products that align with evolving client needs and maximize space utilization across all Malin locations.
● Identify and negotiate strategic vendor partnerships (catering, AV, decor, experience providers) to enhance The Malin’s event services.
Sales Leadership & Business Development
● Develop and execute a high-impact event sales strategy that aligns with The Malin’s growth objectives and revenue goals.
● Lead the end-to-end sales process—from prospecting and lead generation to contract negotiation and closing—focusing on high-value corporate and private event clients.
● Work with Partnerships to establish and expand a strong pipeline of corporate clients, agencies, and premium event buyers through strategic outreach, partnerships, and networking.
● Leverage existing industry contacts and a well-established book of business to generate immediate revenue opportunities and drive new business.
● Define and oversee the event sales funnel, leveraging CRM tools for pipeline management, conversion analysis, and forecasting.
● Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities to drive incremental revenue and expand The Malin’s footprint in the event space.
Revenue Optimization & Strategic Execution
● Develop and implement pricing strategies that align with demand, regions, seasonality, and value-add services, ensuring optimal space utilization and profitability.
● Leverage data analytics to monitor conversion rates, refine sales approaches, and improve market positioning.
● Collaborate with finance and executive leadership to set, track, and exceed revenue targets for event sales.
● Establish a scalable, repeatable event sales framework to drive consistent success across all Malin locations.
Relationship Management & Brand Representation
● Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and key decision-makers within the industry.
● Leverage a deep network of professional relationships to fast-track client acquisition and promote repeat business.
● Represent The Malin at industry events, trade shows, and networking gatherings to enhance brand visibility and lead generation.
● Leverage digital platforms, including LinkedIn and other professional networks, to strengthen relationships and drive business opportunities.
● Establish The Malin as a premier destination for high-end corporate and private events through strategic brand positioning.
Qualifications & Experience
● 7+ years of experience in event sales, hospitality sales, or venue management, with a strong track record of driving revenue growth.
● Proven ability to bring an existing book of business and activate established client relationships for immediate revenue impact.
● Skilled in strategic sales planning, business development, and high-touch client relationship management.
● Experience building scalable, revenue-driven event sales initiatives in dynamic environments.
● Passion for working in a fast-growing startup, with a hands-on approach to shaping the future of the business.
● Demonstrated success in leading sales teams, setting performance goals, and driving accountability.
● Strong background in pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and CRM pipeline management.
● Ability to influence space planning, infrastructure decisions, and service development to support evolving sales goals.
● Collaborative mindset with experience partnering across operations, marketing, and leadership to strengthen product offerings and brand presence.
● Clear communicator with sharp negotiation and presentation skills.
● Highly organized and capable of managing multiple high-value client accounts with precision.

This fantastic role is offering a strong remuneration package comprised of a generous base salary and super, plus commission.
